You book the lesson and the family gets one summary email with a link to confirm and pay. They confirm and pay by your deadline (24 hours before by default), with a reminder 12 hours before it. Lessons not confirmed in time are cancelled for you. A family that cancels 5 or more hours ahead gets a credit for their next lesson; later cancellations stay paid; if you cancel, the family always gets a credit. Credits last 90 days and are used automatically. Payments go by card through Stripe into your own account, per lesson, by the month or as prepaid packages, with 0% platform fee. Every number can be changed in Settings.

Talk for a minute. Get homework that grades itself.

Record a one- to two-minute recap after the lesson. AI writes 6 to 8 multiple-choice and short-answer questions on what you covered; you review them, and the family gets a private practice link by email with a reminder two days later. Multiple choice is marked instantly, AI grades short answers, and the score comes back to you.

A page of your own that brings new families to you

Publish your page at theindietutor.com/t/your-name with your subjects, grades, lesson types, area, starting price and packages. Families send lesson requests or fill in your intake form (show/hide questions, photo uploads), and you add them as clients in one click. Shared links show a preview card with your photo, name and subjects. Included on every plan.

• Starter: $12 a month or $120 a year. 1 tutor, up to 10 students.
• Pro: $24 a month or $240 a year. Unlimited students, family portal, online payments, reminders, packages and AI homework.

Do parents need to download an app?

No. Parents open their own private portal link in any browser. Lost the link? They enter their email at theindietutor.com/family and get it again.

How do payments work?

Parents pay by card through Stripe and the money goes into your own Stripe account. We do not take a cut.

How do new families find me?

Publish your own page at theindietutor.com/t/your-name and share the link anywhere. Lesson requests and intake forms land in your inbox.

Can parents reschedule a lesson?

Yes, on Pro and Studio. Parents tap Ask to move in their portal and suggest up to three new times; you accept one or decline.
